In consequence of broken treaties, broken promises, neglect, prejudice, injustice, and abuse, many American Indians are presently living in unbelievable poverty and hardship.

The worst poverty in the United States of America presently exists in South Dakota on Pine Ridge, Rosebud, Cheyenne River, and Standing Rock reservations, and there are many other reservations which come in a very close second.
